The most useful approach to use in critically analyzing
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway is
Santiago as a Christ Figure. That is because Santiago
could not fish for the 40 days and had a difficulty
for 3 days as Christ did such a thing. This has great
meaning because number is very important key in
Bible. Moreover, main point of this story is what
Santiago had never give up fishing with his injury
or loneliness since he caught the big fish. Christ
also was jeered by people around him and
crucified while his body and hands were tormented.
Therefore, I thought that this approach was most
useful.
