Topic: Practice P&D (Presentation&Discussion)
We practiced P&D about Meiland, it was hard for me to do
presentation without enough preparation. I did P&D with
having a note which are written key words about Meiland
contents and did not look at the note slowly and carefully
because I thought presenter do not have to read in front
of audience. However, there are difficult things about
P&D for me. When I was unable to find a suitable word,
I tend to look down and up without seeing audience.
Also, I forgot to see each audience equally because of
hastiness.
As a audience, I felt that critical thinking was very needed
because most people could not ask questions to presenter.
In today's class, I became aware of importance of practicing
P&D to have confidence and get used to it.

My comments on ASP class (5/25)
Topic: Presentation by using the google document.
I could get the useful information about google presentation
in today's class. In particular, I was glad to know that
we could insert pictures, clip arts and videos which have many
variety and size. Also, we practiced using presentation of google
document and our group chose "nattou" as a topic of
presentation, therefore title was "nattou" and subtitle was
"the charm of the nattou". I learned that title needs simple
words because audience catch the information with their eyes
and a subtitle needs more detailed content. Searching
the pictures and videos of nattou, we could not find useful one
to appeal the good points of nattou. Therefore, I thought we
might need to change the words in searching.
Though this class, I noticed that important things in
presentation are not only good contents but also
meaningful slide because audience understand the contents
by using brain, ear also eye. I would like to try using google
document at the next time of presentation.

ARW Blogging Assignment 5
The main characters in Old Man and the Sea are Santiago,
a fisherman and Manolin, a boy who helps him.
Three adjectives that describe Santiago are lonely,
positive and enthusiastic. From the sentence "I wish I had the
boy, the old man said aloud"(p45), I guess that Santiago needs
a boy who have confidence in him. Also, in fishing alone
he can not communicate with others, so he is lonely.
From the sentences "Tomorrow is going to be a good day with
this current"(p14), "Every day is a new day. It is better to
be lucky"(p32), I feel that he is positive. Even if he could not
know when he could fish the one, he believes the day will surely
come. Next, from the sentence "Now is the time to think of only
one thing. That which I was born for"(p40), I think that he
believes that mission in his life is fishing big one and thinks
only fishing, so he is enthusiastic.

My comments on ASP class(5/21)
Topic: P&D(Presentation & Discussion)
We learned what P&D is and how to do P&D and so on
in today's class.
In the first, I knew that P&D are made by "content",
"structure" and "delivery", these ideas are very interesting
to me. I had known that content which means information is very
important to do presentation effectively, but I noticed what
we collect the information of high quality from book or website
or data or interview are needed to presenter in today's class.
Also, it was interesting that self introduction and topic
introduction should be connected each other to establish
credibility. For example, when presenter talk about culture
in the world, presenter need self introduction. Like next,
I work in travel company for long time and have been to foreign
countries many times as self introduction. By adding relation to
topic, audience have more interests.
Finally, we practiced presentation in front of everyone to make
eye contact well. I did it, but I was shy to look at eyes suddenly
in standing in front of. When I will do it in class, I might be nervous
and look at everyone with vacant eyes. However, I learned
that presenter has to have confidence and communicate with
audience while relaxing, so I try to use body language(walking
around, using hands and so on) in performance.
To add to what I said, I learned audience also have attitude to
hear carefully such as looking at eyes of presenter, so I do my
best in a class.

My comments on ASP class(5/18)
Topic: Professor & Email
In the first, what do we do when we meet the professor in the street?
We thought we would probably exchange greetings in our experiences.
For example, Good morning, Hi!! , How are you? , Have a good day
and so on. However, I learned that we should try to give our name
because every professor have a lot of students. I surprised at that
a professor has about one hundred or several hundred in one term
and some professor have students in the other university.
I thought that professor would remember the student
only face, but I noticed it is very difficult for them to remember each
students. So, We need to say hello and our name in meeting.
Next, we learned the way to write Email and this was very interesting
and useful to me because I am troubled with the sentence of email in
sending a email.
[What I learned in the class]
・A subject of email is concise and easy to understand.
・Give our name, section, class course and time schedule in the first.
・To be careful in writing professor's name.
For example, when the relation between professor and students
is close, Hi, Megumi(professor name) is accepted.
However, when the relation is not close, Dear professor Watanabe
or Ms. Watanabe and so on are better.
・To explain the detailed business because office hour or tutorial are
not long in meeting.
・To propose a schedule but should not force our(students) schedule.
・To say thank you.
I noticed that my sentence in email is so bad to professor in this class,
therefore I am careful to not be rude to professor in sending a email.
A today's lecture were so meaningful to me while passing the school life
and in the future.

My comments on ASP class (5/11)
Topic of discussion : desert survival problem
We discussed desert survival problem and thought the ranking of items
to help people in class. My score was 84 and our group score was 26.
I feel that I will not be able to survive because of my bad score. In the first,
I think that people in the desert should go to the flight plan because people
probably can not stay long while keeping out of the sun and a sandstorm.
If people stay all the time, people should try to action to seek some possibilities.
Some possibilities are that we may find the place where storm is not strong
or water place or guide to ask for help. I feel that it is more difficult to go a
mining camp than flight plan because of long distance, so I think the flight
plan is better. To go to the flight plan, people need to know the place where
they are, and have "sectional air map of crash area" and "magnetic compass"
in the first, I think. Also water is necessary to survive and plastic rain coat
is useful to protect their body by rain or storm or strong sun.
In our group, we thought that people should stay at crash point in conclusion.
The reasons for that going to somewhere makes people lose their energy or
distance is too far. People need to have water and overcoat and rain coat,
we think. When we decide to the ranking of items, we think the things to
make help sign and survive longer as a priority. In the end, I agreed with
the group idea which stay at crash point because I thought walking to the flight
plan was very hard.
Official ranking was very interesting to me. In particular, I could not
understand how to use the cosmetic mirror in the first, but could understand
mirror was very useful item to make help sign. In addition to, I noticed that
map or compass were so useful to survive. I felt my thinking was not critical ,
so want to have many perspectives through discussion.

My comments on ASP class (5/7)
We discussed order of the people who need to rescue. In our group,
we should rescue the children at first because children have possibilities
in the future than others. Also, their weight is more light than adults so,
we can rescue two children together and it is meaningful to save two liefs.
Next, we have to rescue old person because they can not live long in the water.
Third, we should rescue young woman of model because she may be slender
and she can not stand up in the water. Forth, we should rescue alcoholic
because he may panic and influence others by making noise. The last person
to rescue is swimmer because she can survive by herself or soldier because he
has big power and always takes exercise. When I heard the critical thinking
which we save children at first and soldier next, I thought the way of thinking
is incredible in my mind. I think only age, sex and strong about a first priority,
but I understand person who know the way of using the rope to help people.
Also, we discussed the difference of culture in rescuing the people. In America,
people will rescue lady first. In China, oldest people are thought important.
I felt the what each countries focus on was different .

My comments on ASP class (4/27)
we discussed two topics.
Topic 1) In group discussion, what should we do if someone can not talk about?
I think we should give person who can not talk about suggestion,
hints and question. We try to ask opinions, ideas and give time to think.
Especially, a leader should be careful to give opportunities of talking about
to everyone. If someone can not talk about because of shame, we try to make
small discussion group and find out opinions. However, If someone can not
talk about because of losing the confidence of speaking, we should ask
opinions by giving the time to talk about equally.
Topic 2) Women account for 50 % of population in Japan, however women
who works in the government are only 10% of the population. Why ?
What should we do?
I think that working women are very increasing now, but the most important
and powerful works such as government's work are done by mostly men.
Society in Japan are becoming to think women is equal men in working,
on the other hand men may think women can not work in the important place,
should work to support men. Women have the same ability as men have
and own viewpoint to think society in government. For example, when we
think about child care system in Japan, women have more knowledge than
men and is able to think through their experience. Therefore everyone
in Japan need to notice that women should be given opportunities of work
in government. Women also need to appeal to men especially.

We watched the video of Mr. Ken Tanaka.
I felt that Japanese can communicate with others without talking about clearly.
I don't notice that I use unclear words and people around me also use.
However we need to talk about with people without using unclear words
in English. If we use those words in English, we can't communicate with others
and share the feeling. Therefore needed things are to express feelings by words
not to cause a misunderstanding.
